Char's "Cream of What!" hot cereal

Postby Charski » Thu Feb 09, 2006 10:25 am

Recipe By : Charski
Serving Size : 4

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
2 tablespoons psyllium Husk
1 ounce ground flax seed
1 ounce wheat bran
1 ounce soy protein Isolate Powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons Splenda

Mix all together. Measure 1/4 cup into cereal bowl, pour on boiling water and mix to desired consistency.

Description:
"2 grams effective carbs"
Yield:
"1 cup total Meal"

NOTE: I no longer use soy, have been using Designer Whey protein powder instead - this MAY change the carbs, I haven't rechecked.

Also sometimes I make this with oat bran instead of wheat bran, which definitely ups the carb count, but tastes a lot like oatmeal.

Does it taste real "soyish"?

Not if you use Designer Whey! LOL!!

Actually soy protein isolate is not very strongly soy flavored so you can use that without a worry. Any soy flavor that IS there is covered up by the cinnamon too. It does vary from brand to brand though.

Where do you buy soy protein isolate? At a regular grocery store?
I have all the other ingredients and this sounds good for these cold mornings.
Thanks,
Nan

I'll have to suggest this to Erin. She likes to have cereal in the morning.
