James, it really depends on how comfortable you are when you begin. For me, I started at 3 (treadmills may differ) and I worked myself up gradually until I could run at maybe 6 - 6.5 and sustain it for at least 45 minutes. Now, I run mostly outside, but two days a week, I walk on the treadmill at 5. I play with the incline.

Saturday & Sunday - 4 mile run near hotel
Monday - 5 mile run

I'm doing 20 minutes a day to start - 10 minutes at 4mph and 10 minutes at 5mph. I will build up from there. Feels good thus far.

I am here and have been walking most every day since last week. Went on the weekend with DH.

I missed walking on tuesday but I worked at teh garden so that hsould be worth something. the backs of my thighs are sore today so I must have had my butt in the air quite a bit. :)

Carrie, you must be sooo lonely here!!!

I seem to have slightly sprined my ankle. Not sure what is going on but I have a lump on the top of hte foot and it is a lovely shade of green this morning so I am not walking anywhere...and this week was my week to start back to running. Not going to happen yet.

Oh, sorry to hear that Patty. Does it hurt? Good idea to stay off of it.

I do get lonely but I have to post so I can be accountable to myself. My knee was hurting today though so I may take the weekend off myself.

Good news..I dropped our bikes off to get them tuned up.Hopefully I can ride a bike if I cannot walk or run on this darned foot.

Bike should be done on Friday. Sure hope the heat wave breaks by then.

The bike should be fun. I've wanted to get one, but I'd have to take it up and down stairs everyday. Not so much fun there. Hope the weather breaks.
