So I faced my biggest challenge of the trip tonight and I feel like I did pretty doggone well. We had a fancy dinner at a country club with the senior officers of Dave's new company tonight. My wine glass was filled over and over, and after carefully taking one sip and commenting about how good it was, I kept switching my glass with dave's so he could finish mine.
They ordered many appetizers and I put a couple of things on my plate and cut them up and stirred them around a little. I ordered halibut. I carefully scraped off the sauce and ate some of the fish, while scooting the side stuff (fingerling potatoes and spinach in some sauce) around on my plate so it looked eaten.
It may not have been quite as low calorie as my plan requires, but I think under the circumstances, I did as well as humanly possible, and I am proud.
I will try weighing in the morning on the scale I bought today, but I know it won't really mean anything, so I hope it doesn't freak me out. Both boys tried it today and thought it weighed then a little heavy.
Night, all!

I had a terrible night last night, and saw the sunrise this morning. To top it off, the scale here weighed me a pound heavier than I weighed at home two days ago. So not in the greatest mood....
Today is my Ian's birthday and I am going to bake him a cake. Back later.

So I weighed Again on the new scale I bought for the condo--not a happy moment. The boys weighed and felt it was several pounds heavy. We'll see how things look when I get home. Meantime, I'll stay after my plan.
We are going to the zoo this afternoon! It's incredibly gorgeous here this weekend. Should be a lovely day.
Not having any trouble staying on plan.

Still plugging along here in Seattle. New evil scale says I am not losing at all, but I refuse to believe it til I see what my home scale says. Hard to see how you wouldn't lose on 500 calories.
I'll be ready to get back home on Wednesday. Having fun though!

So the nasty Seattle scale finally moved this morning--1.6 pounds. Good to see movement, but it's still a good bit heavier than my home scale.
Home tomorrow!

Seattle scale moved again this morning--another half pound.
I am home tonight, and will see how things look on my *real* scale tomorrow. A little scared, to tell you the truth....

So I weighed in at home this morning, and I have to say I was a little disappointed--a total loss of 3.2 for the second week (and it was actually a week plus one day.) I guess for being on the road on vacation for the entire week, that's not too awful. But I'm pretty disappointed--I'd hoped for more like five pounds.
Ah well--onward to see what Week 3 brings me!

Mysteriously up .4 pounds today. Not sure why, but I was told that fluctuations would happen, so trying not to freak out about it.
I'm still sticking religiously to the plan--no cheating at all.

Back down today, .8 pounds. So a net loss of .4. Small, but I'll take it. I slightly altered my dose of hHcg, and am back to feeling zero hunger. (I got pretty hungry in Seattle, several times.) My third week is more than half gone, and with this plan you can either do a 3 week or a 40 day cycle, so I'm going to have to decide fairly soon. I see people on my hcg board who've lost 25 pounds in the three week protocol, so I lose my perspective. The fact is that I've lost 14+ pounds in only 2 and a half weeks, and that is just plain amazing.
The way that the protocol works is that you stop the very low calorie diet phase and stabilize for at least 3 weeks. The stabilizing (Phase 3) eating plan is basically Atkin induction. No real calorie limitations, all the protein, fat and low carb veggies you want, no starch or sugar of any kind. And you are supposed to carefully weigh every day and keep your weight within a couple of pounds of the weight the last day you took the hcg. If it goes up more, you do a "correction day," which is basically a zero carb day.
Supposedly, if you can keep your weight stable for three weeks, this weight will become your new setpoint and you won't have to fight it so hard.
So I have to decide--extended round or short round. I'm thinking short round, maintain, and then try another round to get the rest of the way there.

Down .6 more, and I had to weigh in two hours earlier than normal because of getting up very early for church today! I'll bet it would've been a full pound if I could've waited till my usual 9:00. Hooray!

Down .4 pounds today! It's dribbling along in small increments, but at least they're steady!
I have decided to extend my diet an extra week (the basic plan is for 23 days, but you can extend it to 40 days if you choose. I don't want to go quite that long, though.) But I feel great and I'm not sick of it yet, and I'm still losing, so why mess with a streak, to put it baseball terms?
When I move to phase 3, the stabilizing phase, I will start a new thread and name it Simeon's Protocol, to avoid any further confusion for anyone who stumbles by...
